GERHARDI GmbH has selected ELIX ABS P2MC for the front grille of a premium electric vehicle from an unnamed leading German automotive manufacturer. In a 16 September release, ELIX said the grille has a two-component design produced through injection moulding and electroplating.
The grille combines a chrome surround with a smoked-glass-effect mesh. An illuminated version incorporates 942 individually backlit points, according to ELIX. The company said P2MC was selected to meet adhesion, surface-quality and dimensional-stability requirements for chrome-plated components.
ELIX said the grade’s flow characteristics support rapid, uniform mould filling while limiting internal stress. It added that P2MC has already been approved by several automotive OEMs.
