Arkema Battery Center of Excellence Expansion in France

Arkema has announced a €10 million expansion project for its Global Battery Center of Excellence in Oullins-Pierre-Bénite, in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. According to the 1 October release, the planned work will triple the site’s footprint and modernise its research infrastructure.

The centre is located within the Rhône-Alpes Research Center. Arkema said the project will consolidate the French site’s role as its global reference platform for current and next-generation battery materials, including through greater digitalisation of R&D activities.

The company said the facility will enable researchers to replicate cell manufacturers’ production conditions, anticipate implementation constraints and support the integration of materials into customer processes. The project is supported in part by the French Research Tax Credit and the France 2030 programme.
