PS PRICES SURGE AGAIN IN MARCH 2024

PS prices surge again. March’s expected increase in European polystyrene prices came amid weak demand, spurred by rising upstream costs.

The allure of imports grew as a cost-effective alternative, despite rising domestic prices pushing buyers to reconsider their sourcing strategies.

Although recent disruptions in the Suez Canal have spiked import costs, the significant domestic price surge has eroded any potential advantage, keeping the focus on imports as a viable option despite challenges.

Prices are anticipated to maintain their current highs in April, as indicated by upstream spot prices, namely styrene monomer.

This trend may even extend into May, with seasonal factors providing additional support.
