EU consumer confidence improves. In a modest yet positive shift, consumer confidence in both the EU and euro area has seen an increase, according to DG ECFIN‘s flash estimate for February 2024.

The Consumer Confidence Indicator increased by 0.4 percentage points in the EU, reaching -15.8, and by 0.6 points in the euro area, to -15.5.

Despite these gains, consumer sentiment continues to lag significantly behind the long-term average, signaling persistent caution among consumers.

The Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) of the European Commission monitors these changes, providing monthly updates.
