EU car sales dip. In December 2023, EU car registrations fell by 3.3%, a decline attributed to a high baseline in December 2022, as reported by ACEA.

Despite this, the overall annual movement for 2023 marked a robust 13.9% increase compared to the previous year.

This decrease in December ends a notable streak of 16 consecutive months of growth.

Battery-electric vehicles stood out, capturing a 14.6% market share for the year, even as diesel and petrol cars saw varied trends.

Hybrid cars, on the other hand, continued to gain momentum, highlighting a shift in consumer preferences within the EU car market.

Despite this overall growth, December 2023 marked a notable shift, with petrol cars seeing a modest uptick.

Diesel vehicles continued their downward trend, reflecting evolving market preferences and a growing emphasis on alternative fuel options within the EU car market.
