EU car registrations rise modestly, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

In November 2023, the EU car market grew by 6.7%, marking the sixteenth consecutive month of expansion, led by significant gains in Italy and France.

Despite Germany’s 5.7% decline, overall new car registrations in the EU rose by 15.7% in the first eleven months of 2023, nearing ten million units.

Battery-electric vehicles achieved a 16.3% market share in November, with a notable surge in Belgium, despite a setback in the German market.

Hybrid-electric cars saw a 28.7% increase in new registrations, with significant growth in Germany, France, and Italy.

However, plug-in hybrid electric car sales declined by 22.1%, impacted by a sharp drop in Germany, the largest market for this power source.

Petrol cars maintained a leading 32.7% market share, while diesel vehicles continued to decline, reflecting shifting trends in the EU car market.
