Overall activity remains slow in most market segments despite improved demand in January from December lows.
The recovery may be due to restocking, but players will wait until well into February to assess activity levels.
The low demand, competition from imports, and high energy prices have led to reduced production or shutdowns in recent months, putting pressure on players to restart.
The construction sector is one of the worst performing market, with a considerable drop in activity in recent months.
Despite some marginal improvements versus a weak December, headwinds persist in most markets.
