Trinseo increases PS prices by €150/mt in January versus December. The increase on general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) follows the increase in January of the styrene monomer contract price of €115/mt.
Trinseo also noted that it will implement a similar increase of €150/mt on high impact polystyrene grades (HIPS).
PS prices experienced volatility in the past few months, having decreased €125/mt in December versus November.
An end to destocking and production reductions helped prices find support in January.
Meanwhile, signs emerged suggesting players could face better-than-expected market conditions in the next few months.
For example, gas prices retreated from he peaks and traded around €74/MWh. At the same time, EU annual inflation decreased to 9.2% in December from 10.1% in November.
