Trinseo decreases PS prices by €80/mt in December versus November after the styrene monomer contract price decreases by €132/mt.
The company noted that the decrease of €80/mt applies for general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS).
The decrease is smaller than the decrease in the monomer price, likely due to the recovery in gas prices in November, from around €100/MWh to around €140/MWh.
Meanwhile, market pareticipants across the value chain continue to struggle with poor market conditions.
