INEOS Styrolution hikes PS prices by €415/mt from 1 April, according to a recent post on its website.
The increase is likely to do with the increases in costs of both raw materials and energy.
A big part of the increase is related to the increase in the contract price of the main raw material styrene monomer, which shot up in April.
Many polymer producers are also currently applying energy surcharges on top of the increases in raw material costs.
In addition to the increase in General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS), the company notes that a surcharge of €120/mt will apply on high impact polystyrene (HIPS).
The war in the Ukraine has increased both gas and crude oil prices. The higher prices are feeding through raw materials and other costs, such as electricity.
