Roehm increases prices of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), according to recent company press notes.
PMMA will increase €120/mt and MMA will increase €100/mt.
The company blamed the soaring gas and raw material prices for the price increase of MMA.
The PMMA value chain, like most other polymers, continues to suffer from accumulating events that are pushing up costs.
But in the past few weeks sellers struggled to pass on the full increases downstream because of soft demand.
Another element that has been preventing sellers to pass on the higher costs has been the persistent competitive imports from Asia.
However, as energy prices surged again amid increased uncertainty over the war in Ukraine, buyers may be unable to continue to resist increases.
