PMMA imports from Saudi Arabia increase in August 2021 compared to August 2020, overtaking South Korean imports.
The latest trade data from Eurostat shows the main trading partner for polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was Saudi Arabia.
This shift in trade pattern is to do with ongoing logistic issues and the high cost of freights. This environment pushed Asian producers to switch exports to Europe from their facilities in Saudi Arabia.
Moreover, European buyers are likely finding better offers from Saudi Arabia. Players have seen an increase in imports from Saudi Arabia also for the feedstock methyl methacrylate (MMA).
And as freight continue to go up in December, most likely future data will continue to show healthy PMMA imports from Saudi Arabia.
