ABS prices in August 2021 look set to increase in Europe by €100/mt due to ongoing supply tightness.
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) players were expecting prices to continue to decrease from the peak reached in Q2.
However, ongoing supply problems across the value chain are preventing further downside.
The pandemic has created an environment that has supported prices, from a lack of imports to higher costs and strong demand. These trends continue and some are getting stronger.
Buyers’ main concern is not so much on prices but on availability which remains extremely limited.
The price increases in August are to do with the supply shortages but also with the increases in costs, especially due to the recent spike in the butadiene monthly contract price.
