EU CAR SALES REBOUND 281.6% IN APRIL

May 20, 2021

EU car sales rebound in April according to the latest registrations figures by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

The numbers show an increase of 281.6 percent between April 2020 and April 2021.

However, the increase represents a recovery against a low base established last year when sales plummeted because of the pandemic.

Car registration figures

In fact, registration figures in April 2021 were around 300,000 units lower than in 2019, according to the press release.

Meanwhile, for polymer players the automotive sector continues to show strength despite hiccups because of the lack of semiconductors.

Moreover, any loss in production because of lack of raw materials will most likely push demand higher later in the year or 2022 when conditions improve.
