May 5, 2021

INEOS Styrolution seeks €90 per metric ton increase on PS in May, according to a note on the company’s website.

The company said that its general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) will increase €90 per metric ton from April.

While for high impact polystyrene (HIPS), there will be a surcharge of €100 per metric ton.

Since November 2020, PS prices in Europe have been registering increases.

According to GC Intelligence price assessments, GPPS and HIPS prices in April climbed to just above €2,000 per metric ton. In November, GPPS prices were assessed at €950 per metric ton.

For months PS costs have been going up amid good demand in most market segments.

Some of the most important markets for polystyrene are packaging, construction, and appliances, and all have experienced healthy demand because of the pandemic.

INEOS Styrolution is a global styrenics suppliers, headquartered in Germany.
