DSM INCREASES NYLON PRICES IN MAY

May 4, 2021

DSM increases nylon prices in May, of PA6 and PA66, for both compounds and polymer grade, according to very reliable sources.

While nylon 6 (PA6) compounds will increases €650 per metric ton, polymer grade will increase €800 per metric tons.

And nylon 66 (PA66) compounds will increase €450 per metric ton and polymer grade will increase €600 per metric ton.

The announced increases come at a time of tremendous pressure across the polymer industry.

As the pandemic continues to distorts markets, including base chemicals, costs are increasing. And plant issues are causing shortages.

In addition, external events such as the Suez Canal blockage and especially the power blackouts in the US made a bad situation worse in Q2.

What is more, the pandemic created a severe shortage of containers that has driven up transport costs.

With many factors impacting the markets, nylon prices most likely will increase for the rest of Q2.
