The relentless climb in polymer prices continues unabated, with little to suggest an ease any time soon.
DSM seeks higher prices of PBT in March on the back of higher costs, according to a recent press note.
The increase of €300/mt will be effective from 15 March 2021 and it follows the company‘s increase of €200/mt in February.
While prices are on a steep climb, for some buyers offers have increased well above €3,000/mt for unfilled grade.
The higher prices stem mainly from pandemic related distortions that caused good demand, higher costs, and short supply.
In addition, the bad weather in the US worsened an already bad global situation in February.
And these events have given rise to a perfect storm which is fuelling the current upward spiral in prices.
