Disruptions amid good demand across the polymer industry continue to impact supplies across the value chains.
DuPont declares FM globally on PBT and nylons because of supply chains disruptions, according to reliable sources.
DuPont‘s well known brand names are Zytel® for PA6 and PA66 (nylon6 and nylon 66) and Crastin® for polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).
The company has reportedly declared FM because of delays and shortages of raw materials, a situation that continues.
The force majeure (FM) is understood to have been declared on 19 February 2021.
The global situation on raw materials has been getting worse for many polymers, including engineering resins.
While the second wave pushed up demand, it also caused disruptions along value chains.
Many companies have been declaring FM.
Moreover, as disruptions continue, the current dynamics will most likely spill over into March and possibly April.
