PC REMAINS TIGHT IN EUROPE IN JANUARY

January 8, 2021
The market should continue to support the upward trend in prices.

PC remains tight in Europe in January as buyers are fighting hard to secure volumes amid good demand and supply disruptions.

This market environment will likely help polycarbonate (PC) producers achieve higher prices in January.

During the last few months of 2020, a combination of factors tightened the market.

These were strong demand, plant issues, and disruptions in the shipping market.

And it seems that this scenario has not changed much since December.

Even if the shortage is not as bad as ABS, it is enough to continue to fuel the upward trend in prices.

However, in terms of activity downstream, the year seems to have started on a weaker note than in December.

Although demand is still upbeat for this time of the year as December was an exceptionally strong month.

As such, the lower demand will most certainly not offset the PC supply tightness in January.
