Demand for engineering resins continues to get better since the summer across most market segments.
DSM will increase prices on PBT, PA6 and PA66 globally from December, according to a recent company note.
The increases in Europe will be €140/mt for PBT and PA6, and €200/mt on PA66.
DSM will increase prices specifically on PBTs portfolio and polyamide 6 and 66 compounds.
In addition, the increases will be effective from December 1.
The company says the increases are to absorb higher costs of raw materials and to ensure its position as a key supplier.
Meanwhile, the market outlook has improved for all engineering polymers in recent weeks.
PBT, PA6 and PA66 prices have for some time been weakened by the auto sector and the pandemic.
But recently, better demand, stronger outlook, and supply constraints have provided support for an upside in prices.
And the improved outlook from good news about vaccines pushing up oil prices could also, if sustained, add more upward pressure.
