The upward momentum on prices since the summer seems to be continuing.
Trinseo announced price increases in November in Europe, according to a note on its website.
The announcement is in line with current market trends.
There has been upward pressure on prices of almost all plastics raw materials since the summer and this seems to be continuing in November.
After the declines during the spring because of the coronavirus, most polymer markets have started to improve. And since the summer, prices have been recovering.
Trinseo‘s price increases are as follows: €150/mt for polycarbonate (PC); €110/mt for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS); €80/mt for styrene acrylonitrile (SAN); €110/mt for general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS).
Meanwhile, tighter supply, good demand, and higher costs, from benzene, styrene, and butadiene, are supporting the higher price in November.
However, November is a time of the year when prices start to go down as activity slows in some sectors. But it seems the coronavirus is disrupting these seasonal patterns.
Moreover, Europe has been heavily impacted by the pandemic and markets seem to be returning into balance with the rest of the world.
