ABS Prices Rolled Over In October

October 23, 2020
Most sellers are sold out due to good demand and lower imports.

ABS prices rolled over in October in Europe, according to GC Intelligence analysis.

Tight supply has prevented buyers from securing lower prices in line with costs.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) producers have been able to widen margins every month since the summer.

With the Chinese market rallying, imports from the region have dried up.

Therefore, this has left a big supply gap that European producers are struggling to fulfil.

There is little evidence that would suggest the current situation will soon change.

As such, it is likely that the European ABS market will continue to be tight during 2021.

However, not all buyers received rollovers in October.

Some contracts are strictly based on costs and these saw price decreases.

Others, more freely negotiated were subject to increases.

October is normally a slower month as the end of the year draws to a close.

But the ongoing virus this year seems to be disrupting seasonal patterns.
