Demand in some segments continues to suffer on the back of pandemic-related disruptions.
Polypropylene (PP) prices rolled over in September in Europe, according to GC Intelligence assessments.
Prices have recently been moving closely with costs in a finely balanced market.
Some downstream markets are still feeling the pressure from disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
For example, segments such as automotive, consumer products, especially the ones related to transportation, were still struggling to recover.
But other markets such as packaging, appliances and health care were doing much better.
However, the gains in demand seem to have not been enough to fully compensate for the losses in demand in the heavily-affected industries.
What is more, there was relatively strong competition from Asian imports that kept supply buoyant in September. This also helped to limit any upside in prices.
