Tight supply and good demand supported the increases.
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) prices increased in September in Europe, according to GC Intelligence assessments.
The increases from August to September were around €10-15/mt.
While the price increase seem small, producers have once again managed to widen margins.
Producers of ABS in Europe have seen their margins fall since the spring of 2018.
However, in the past few weeks, a tighter market on the back of an absence of Asian imports and good demand reverted this negative trend on margins.
ABS prices increased in September also because demand is strong, finding support since the lows established before the summer.
At the same time, ABS prices increased in September after a number of turnarounds and technical issues tightened the market further.
As a result of the current developments, most sellers in Europe are sold out.
