The announcement is in line with the movement in raw material costs.
INEOS Styrolution keeps polystyrene (PS) prices steady in September, according to a note on the company’s website.
The note said that PS prices will not change from August to September for general purpose polystyrene (GPPS).
And the surcharge on high impact polystyrene (HIPS) remains at €100/mt.
The PS price rollover in September follows the little change in the price of the feedstock styrene.
However, despite the little movements in costs, some sellers were still aiming to achieve increases in September.
For example, earlier in the month, Trinseo announced that it was seeking an increase of €30/mt for its PS in September.
September is a seasonal strong month as demand tends to pick up after companies rump up production after the summer holidays.
But with infections currently on the rise, headwinds on PS demand will likely continue in September.
