This follows price increases of all the raw materials in July.
INEOS Styrolution announced price increases on ABS. A note on the company’s website said that from June to July acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) prices will increase €110/mt.
The global styrenics producer also announced increases on polystyrene for the same period. The company said GPPS and HIPS will increase €85/mt.
These price increases follow increases in raw material prices in July. Prices of styrene, butadiene and acrylonitrile are all on the way up, a trend expected to continue during the summer.
Economic activity is improving and likely to continue to support demand and prices in the coming months.
What is more, competition from Asian imports is apparently declining. This will likely help increase demand for European producers.
But more evidence is needed to establish the impact of lower imports on the entire European ABS market.
However, uncertainty about the virus remains high and likely to cap any improvement in demand and ultimately prices.
Some sectors are still struggling. For example, ABS demand from the automotive industry while improving is still very weak according to market participants.
