LONDON (GC Intelligence) – INEOS Styrolution, the global styrenics supplier, announced that it will build a world-scale Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) plant in China.
The capacity of the plant will be 600,000 metric tonnes per year, production will start in 2020, and completion is scheduled for 2023.
The location of the plant is Ningbo, China, near the polystyrene site in the Zhejiang Province.
“Asia has been identified by us as a significant growth market…As the global leader in styrenics, we are committed to supporting our Chinese customers’ growth with our new local production capacities”, said Kevin McQuade, CEO INEOS Styrolution.
In 2018, the company announced that it signed an acquisition agreement with Total S.A. for two polystyrene (PS) production sites in China.
The deal included the wholly owned Chinese PS business, including one production site in Ningbo of 200,000 tonnes per year and one in Foshan also of 200,000 tonnes per year.
