LONDON (GC Intelligence) – The polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) 2020 price forecasts for all grades remain weak.
There will be decreases in Q1 and for the rest of the forecast period prices will be flat.
The forecasts were subject to downward revisions for most of 2019.
This was to do with worsening and consistent deterioration in market fundamentals.
Lower demand, ample supply, including higher imports, all contributed to the downward pressure in 2019.
In 2020, after the expected decreases in Q1, prices should post very small falls in Q2 and in Q3.
This forecast of relative flat prices assumes that fundamentals will be more stable in 2020.
This view was also supported by some good news recently, such as Germany avoiding a recession.
But despite this, the overall market mood is still negative.
As such, the current forecasts could still be revised downward.
The key is whether Brexit and tariff disputes will continue to fuel uncertainty in 2020.
